Who can take part
- Age 18–80 years old
- Diagnosed with acute kidney injury or end-stage chronic kidney disease requiring continuous dialysis
- Have a liver problem (liver failure or cirrhosis) and/or low blood pressure with high lactate levels
- Able to have a stable IV access that delivers blood at >150 ml/min
- Have not received citrate anticoagulation in the past 72 hours
- Expected to survive at least 72 hours
