- Age 14–60 years old
- Diagnosed with AML in remission or relapsed/refractory AML, OR intermediate-to-high-risk MDS
- Never had a stem cell transplant before
- Healthy enough to handle a stem cell transplant (good heart, lung, liver, and kidney function)
- No active severe infections or concurrent cancer
- Able to give informed consent and attend follow-up visits
