Who can take part

  • You need a hip replacement scheduled for hip arthritis (osteoarthritis) on one side only
  • You must be able to understand and sign a consent form
  • You must be willing to have X-rays taken before surgery and at follow-up visits
  • You cannot have had previous surgery on the hip or knee being studied
  • You cannot have a neuromuscular disorder (like cerebral palsy or muscular dystrophy) affecting how you walk or stand
