Who can take part
- You are having non-cardiac surgery (surgery not on the heart)
- Surgery is expected to last at least 60 minutes
- You are an adult
- Your weight and body size fit certain ranges (BMI between 18.5 and 35)
- You have had a kidney function blood test (creatinine) in the past 6 months and will have one within a week after surgery
- Your kidneys are working normally before surgery—no chronic kidney disease or severe kidney problems
