  • You are 18 years old or older
  • You are having surgery that is not on your heart
  • Your surgery will take 2 hours or longer
  • You do not have end-stage kidney disease (kidney failure) that required dialysis in the past year
  • You have not had acute kidney injury (sudden kidney damage) in the 7 days before your surgery
  • Your surgery is not on your kidneys
