Who can take part

  • You are scheduled for elective thoracoscopic lung surgery (wedge resection, segmentectomy, or lobectomy) under general anesthesia
  • You are between 18 and 64 years old
  • You are in good enough overall health for surgery (ASA status I–III, meaning no serious medical conditions that would make surgery very risky)
  • You do not have allergies to opioids (strong painkillers) or steroids (anti-inflammatory medicines)
  • You have not used opioid painkillers regularly in the past month or taken pain medicine within 24 hours before surgery
  • You are able to understand the study and complete pain rating scales after surgery
