- You are scheduled for cardiac (heart) surgery requiring general anesthesia and a breathing tube
- You have significant heart disease or other serious health conditions (ASA status III or IV)

- You are not currently taking beta-blockers or calcium channel blockers, or willing to temporarily adjust these medications
