Who can take part
- You are currently in the hospital and have been there 72 hours or less
- You have been diagnosed with acute kidney injury (AKI) using standard medical criteria
- You are between 18 and 85 years old
- You can provide blood and urine samples and be monitored during your stay
- You do not have advanced chronic kidney disease (stage 4 or worse) from before this hospitalization
- You are able to produce urine (not in complete kidney shutdown)
