Who can take part

  • You are 65 years or older
  • You have been diagnosed with non-small cell lung cancer (a common type) that has not spread far and can be treated with surgery
  • You have completed a detailed health assessment before surgery that evaluates how well your body is functioning
  • You are physically able to have the planned surgery and commit to follow-up visits for several years
  • You do not have severe heart, liver, kidney, or lung disease that would make surgery too risky
  • You agree to be randomly assigned to a treatment group and attend regular check-ups after surgery
