  • You are 60 years old or older
  • You need major surgery (such as removing prostate or kidney) for cancer under general anesthesia
  • You had a heart rhythm test (EKG) before surgery
  • Your surgery is considered medium-to-high risk for heart complications
  • You can be checked on for at least 30 days after surgery
  • You can stay in the hospital after your surgery
