  • You are 16 years old or older
  • You have a confirmed penetrating brain injury (verified by imaging or physical exam showing something pierced through the brain's outer membrane)
  • You arrive at the hospital and can be enrolled within 8 hours of the injury
  • You do not have injuries to other parts of your body beyond the brain injury
  • You are not pregnant or suspected to be pregnant
  • You are not incarcerated or a prisoner
