Who can take part

  • You are at least 18 years old
  • You have been coughing up blood within the last 24–48 hours, or are still bleeding now
  • You are coughing up less than 100 mL (about 3 ounces) of blood per day and are not in shock
  • Your blood pressure is at least 90/60 mmHg, your heart rate is 120 or lower, and you show no signs of severe distress
  • You can breathe safely on your own and can use a nebulizer without immediate danger
  • You are willing to sign a consent form and participate in the study
