Home vs. Hospital Care for Mild Sudden Pancreas Inflammation

Who can take part

  • Age 18 or older
  • Diagnosed with acute pancreatitis confirmed by blood tests (lipase or amylase levels) or imaging, plus characteristic abdominal pain
  • Mild pancreatitis only: no signs of organ dysfunction or systemic inflammation at emergency department arrival
  • Able to eat and drink normally at the time of enrollment
  • Have a responsible adult caregiver available at home to help monitor you
  • Live within 30–45 minutes' drive of the hospital and able to receive phone calls for follow-up
