Who can take part

  • You are 18–40 years old and play an overhead sport (volleyball, tennis, baseball, or similar) recreationally or as an amateur
  • You have played your sport for at least 3 years and currently play more than 4 hours per week
  • You can lift at least 10 kg in a stable shoulder press and at least 8 kg in an unstable shoulder press (15 repetitions each)
  • You have shoulder pain only on your dominant side (the arm you throw or play with) with at least 3 positive findings on specific clinical tests
  • Your shoulder pain during pressing is mild (score of 3 or less on a 0–10 pain scale)
  • You have had no shoulder or elbow surgery in the past 6 months, no recent neck or arm trauma, and no neurological symptoms from your neck
