Who can take part

  • You are 40 years old or older.
  • You have COPD diagnosed by a breathing test and have had at least 1 moderate or severe flare-up in the last year.
  • You have been on a stable triple inhaler (or two inhalers if one is not right for you) for at least 1 month.
  • A test of your sputum shows a germ called Pneumocystis jirovecii.
  • You are not allergic to certain antibiotics (TMP-SMX or sulfa drugs) and have no other infections or conditions that would interfere.
