Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You have Stage III gum disease (periodontitis).
  • You have at least one deep gum pocket deeper than 5 mm even after non-surgical treatment.
  • Your mouth is fairly clean (plaque and bleeding scores under 20%).
  • You are not a heavy smoker (no more than 20 cigarettes per day).
  • You are not pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking certain bone-affecting medications.
