Knee sleeve vs. no sleeve for chronic knee pain in older adults

Who can take part

  • Age 50 to 64 years old
  • Knee pain lasting 3 months or longer in one or both knees
  • Knee size fits the sleeves: knee around kneecap between 12 and 22 inches, or thigh above knee up to 28 inches
  • Speak English and agree to the study
  • No prior knee replacement in the painful knee(s)
  • Not currently taking blood thinners or having certain medical conditions (like rheumatoid arthritis, bleeding disorders, or recent leg fractures)
  • Not currently using a rigid knee brace and not used a fabric knee sleeve for more than 6 months total before
