Who can take part

  • You are 18 or older
  • You are generally healthy (no major medical conditions like heart disease or diabetes)
  • You have at least 10 pairs of teeth that touch each other, and at least three natural lower front teeth
  • You have visible tartar on the back of your lower front teeth
  • You are not pregnant, and you do not smoke 10 or more cigarettes a day
  • You have not taken antibiotics or anti-inflammatory drugs in the last month, and you are not using special mouthwashes
