Dental gel trial with deep cleaning for gum disease

This study tests whether a new dental gel used along with deep gum cleaning (scaling and root planing) can improve periodontitis. If you qualify, you would receive standard gum treatment plus the study gel, then be followed over time.

Who can take part

  • You’re age 18 or older and can sign a consent form in writing
  • You have at least 20 natural teeth (not counting wisdom teeth)
  • You have gum disease with at least 20 specific gum bleeding areas (BOP sites), not counting wisdom teeth
  • Your periodontitis is Stage II or III and Grade B (not Stage IV or Grade C)
  • No gum antibiotic treatment or regular anti-inflammatory medicine (NSAIDs) in the last month, and no deep gum treatment (SRP or gum surgery) in the last year
  • You can follow study visits and be reachable by phone, and you can read and understand English
