This trial tests a device called the V-Wave Shunt to see if it can reduce lung congestion and improve symptoms in people with advanced heart failure and a reduced ejection fraction (a measure of how well the heart pumps). It may help if you have severe symptoms despite taking all recommended heart medications.

Who can take part

  • You have heart failure with a reduced ejection fraction (≤40%) and have had heart failure for at least 6 months.
  • You have severe symptoms (NYHA Class III) like shortness of breath with minimal activity.
  • You take all recommended heart failure medications (such as an ARNI, ACE inhibitor, ARB, beta blocker, SGLT2 inhibitor, and diuretics as needed) at stable doses for at least one month.
  • You have had a heart failure hospitalization or an emergency room visit for heart failure lasting at least 6 hours within the past year, or you have a high BNP or NT-proBNP level (a sign of heart stress).
  • You can walk at least 100 meters but no more than 450 meters in 6 minutes.
  • You do not have conditions like a recent heart attack, stroke, blood clots, severe lung problems, or kidney failure.
