Changing Pulse Oximeter Probe Placement to Prevent Skin Injury in the ICU

Who can take part

  • You must be 18 years old or older.
  • A family member or legal guardian must give written permission for you to be in the trial.
  • You must be in the ICU and have a pulse oximeter (a small clip on your finger that checks oxygen levels).
  • You must have a very low level of consciousness (GCS score of 8 or less, meaning you are not awake or aware).
  • Your ICU stay must be expected to last more than 72 hours (3 days).
