Who can take part
- Your child is between 10 and 16 years old when the injury happens.
- The break is in the main part of the forearm bones (radius or ulna), not near the wrist or elbow.
- The fracture failed to stay in good position after trying to reset it without surgery, or it is an open fracture (bone sticking through skin, Gustilo type I only).
- The wrist growth plate is still open or partially open on X-rays.
- Your child does not have certain other injuries like a severe open fracture, a broken elbow on the same side, or a bone disease that weakens the bone.
