New catheter treatment for dangerous heart rhythm problems

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You are scheduled for a catheter ablation procedure for either premature ventricular complexes (PVCs – extra heartbeats) or sustained monomorphic ventricular tachycardia (VT – a fast, regular heart rhythm from the lower chambers).
  • If you have VT, you must have had at least one episode of symptomatic VT in the last 3 months that needed treatment, such as a shock, pacing, or hospital care.
  • If you have VT, you must already have an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) or plan to get one during the same hospital stay.
  • You must be able to attend all follow-up visits and give your consent.
  • You must not have certain severe heart conditions or recent heart events (like a heart attack in the last 2 months or severe heart failure).
