Who can take part

  • You have been diagnosed with a herniated disc in your lower back.
  • You are between 18 and 65 years old and right-handed.
  • Your back pain has lasted more than 2 weeks and is moderate to severe.
  • You have not taken any pain relievers, nerve medications, or sedatives in the past month.
  • You have not had any other back treatments, like chiropractic or physical therapy, in the past month.
  • You are able to have an MRI scan (no metal implants or claustrophobia).
