- You are 0 to 18 years old.
- You are being seen in the pediatric emergency department.
- You have a fever of 38.0°C (100.4°F) or higher when checked, or you had a fever in the last 24 hours.
- Your visit is not due to an injury (trauma) or a scheduled (elective) appointment.
- You have not been to the same emergency department for the same fever within the last 72 hours.
