- You are 18 years or older and currently in the intensive care unit (ICU).
- You need your urine output monitored as part of your care.
- You agree to sign a consent form to participate.
- You do not have frequent bowel accidents without a fecal management system.
- You do not have heavy menstrual bleeding or vaginal bleeding that prevents using a tampon or menstrual cup.
- You do not have urinary retention (inability to empty your bladder).
- You are not agitated, combative, or restless and unlikely to keep the catheter in place.
- You do not have significant fluid loss from sweating or swelling that would make urine measurements inaccurate.
