Who can take part
- You are between 18 and 70 years old.
- You have a progressive collapsing foot deformity, which means your foot arch has progressively dropped and the foot bones have shifted, with pain on the inside of your ankle or foot.
- You have had pain lasting at least 6 weeks, with a severity of 3 or more out of 10, and pain when pressing on the tendon that helps support the arch.
- You can walk without a cane or walker and are able to bear weight on the affected foot.
- You are willing to wear shoes that can fit a special foot orthotic (a firm pad for your shoes) every day.
- You are willing to avoid other treatments like pain medications or extra physical therapy during the trial.
- You have a positive heel rise test, which means it's very painful to rise up on your toes or you can't do it.
- You do not have a rigid (stiff) foot deformity, have not had foot or ankle surgery in the past, are not pregnant or breastfeeding, and have not worn a foot orthotic in the past year.
