Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 80 years old.
  • You had a stroke 8 to 14 days before joining the study.
  • The stroke is a single small stroke in a deep part of the brain, caused by a blockage in a small artery.
  • You do not have a major blockage in the large brain artery on the same side as the stroke.
  • You have not been diagnosed with dementia or significant memory loss before the stroke.
  • You are not pregnant or breastfeeding, and you do not have any condition that makes brain scans unsafe.
