Treatments to prevent repeated early pregnancy loss
Treatments studied
Part of Women’s health & pregnancy clinical trials.
This study tests two treatments—progesterone (a hormone) and a blood thinner (low molecular weight heparin)—to see if they help women who have had repeated miscarriages carry a pregnancy to term. If you join, you may receive one or both treatments during your pregnancy.
Summary written for real people, not researchers, by Clin2.
Who can take part
- You have had at least 2 miscarriages in a row before the 20th week of pregnancy, without a clear cause.
- You are currently pregnant, confirmed by ultrasound or blood test, and at least 5 weeks along.
- You are willing to possibly give yourself daily injections as part of the study.
- You do not have antiphospholipid syndrome or other conditions that require blood thinners.
- You do not have serious uterine problems like large fibroids that are the likely cause of the miscarriages.
- You are not allergic to heparin or enoxaparin, and have never had heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (a blood disorder from heparin).

This trial tests whether a blood-thinning medication (enoxaparin) can help prevent complications like preterm birth or preeclampsia from happening again. It is for people who had a past pregnancy problem tied to placenta blood flow issues.
This trial tests whether taking progesterone for longer during an IVF pregnancy can help lower the risk of preterm birth (birth too early). It is for people who are pregnant from a fresh embryo transfer of a single embryo.
This trial tests whether a medicine called prednisolone can help prevent further miscarriages in people who have had recurrent miscarriages with no known cause. If you qualify, you would take prednisolone early in pregnancy and the study team would watch whether more losses occur.
This Phase 3 study tests whether adding micronized progesterone during frozen embryo transfer cycles helps support embryo implantation and pregnancy. You may benefit if your care team is already preparing the uterus with hormone therapy for a blastocyst transfer.
This trial tests whether combining an antibiotic (doxycycline) with a hormone treatment (progestin) can help people with chronic endometritis—a type of uterine inflammation—who have had repeated miscarriages or failed IVF cycles. The goal is to improve the chance of a successful pregnancy.
This study looks for possible reasons why some pregnancies end in miscarriage or stillbirth when no clear cause is found. It involves tests and information from both partners, which may help guide future care for couples like yours.
