Liver cancer risk prediction in chronic liver disease
Part of Cancer, Digestive system clinical trials.
This study aims to predict the risk of developing liver cancer in people with chronic liver conditions such as hepatitis B or C, cirrhosis, or fatty liver disease. By participating, you may help researchers improve early detection and prevention strategies for liver cancer.
Summary written for real people, not researchers, by Clin2.
Who can take part
- You are between 18 and 75 years old.
- You have chronic hepatitis B (positive HBsAg for 6+ months), chronic hepatitis C, or a first-degree relative (parent, child, or sibling) with liver cancer.
- You have cirrhosis, confirmed by biopsy, imaging, or a liver stiffness test (FibroScan) ≥ 12.0 kPa.
- You have fatty liver disease (MAFLD) with moderate liver fibrosis (FibroScan ≥ 10 kPa or FIB-4 > 3.25).
- You have fatty liver disease along with prediabetes or type 2 diabetes, and are willing to sign an informed consent form.

This study is testing a new way to predict if people with chronic hepatitis B, who also have liver fibrosis or cirrhosis, might develop liver cancer (HCC). It uses your medical data to create a risk score, which could help you and your doctor plan earlier and more tailored monitoring.
This study tests a new way to find liver cancer early in people who are at higher risk, using regular ultrasound and blood tests. If you qualify, you'll get close monitoring to catch any problems sooner, which may improve treatment options.
