Collagen scaffold boost for ankle ligament repair
Part of Bones, joints & muscles, Injuries & trauma clinical trials.
This trial tests whether adding a collagen scaffold during surgery to repair a damaged ankle ligament gives better results than surgery alone. It is for people with long-term ankle instability who have poor ligament quality or have had a prior failed repair.

Who can take part
- You are between 18 and 65 years old.
- You have chronic ankle instability that hasn't improved with non-surgical treatments like physical therapy.
- Your ankle ligament is too damaged for a standard repair, or you've had a previous ligament repair that failed.

- You do not have severe ankle arthritis, infection, or other major health problems that would make surgery unsafe.

This trial compares two surgical techniques to fix chronic ankle instability. It is for people with ongoing ankle weakness, multiple sprains, or loose ligaments who have not had ankle surgery before.
This trial tests whether adding a special tape to a standard ankle ligament repair helps people with chronic ankle instability more than the standard repair alone. If you have loose joints and a history of ankle giving way, this study may be an option.
This trial tests whether adding a BioBrace scaffold to standard Brostrom surgery improves outcomes for people with chronic ankle instability. It may help if you have had a weak or unstable ankle for more than 3 months and haven't had prior ankle surgery.
This trial tests a special gel placed during ankle ligament repair surgery to see if it prevents painful scar tissue from forming. It might help people with chronic ankle sprains who need surgery.
This study tests whether adding a special collagen scaffold during surgery helps heal a torn Achilles tendon better than standard repair alone. The scaffold is made from cow collagen and is placed over the repair to support healing.
This trial is for people who need a first-time arthroscopic Brostrom repair to fix a loose ankle ligament. It uses a special material called BioBrace to help the repair heal better.
