- NCT05879432RecruitingPhase 2
Peptide treatment to prevent or lessen kidney injury after heart surgery
This Phase 2 trial tests an LSALT peptide given around the time of “on-pump” heart surgery to help prevent or reduce acute kidney injury (a sudden drop in kidney function). It may help people who are at higher risk for kidney injury during or after surgery.

Testing citrate fluid safety during kidney filtration (CRRT)
This Phase 3 study checks whether Prismocitrate 18 is safe for adults who need a kidney filtration treatment called CRRT. It is mainly for people who cannot safely use heparin (a common blood thinner) due to bleeding risk.
Birmingham, AlabamaAges 18 years+ - NCT03541785Enrolling by invitation
Using NGAL to guide fluids and start kidney-filtering in children
This study tests whether measuring a urine protein called NGAL can help doctors choose the right fluid amount and decide when to start a kidney-filtering treatment called CRRT in critically ill children with kidney injury. If it works, it may help treat kidney problems sooner and more safely.

Common questions
- Are there clinical trials for aki?
- Yes. Clin2 currently lists 51 recruiting aki studies from the U.S. registry, each rewritten for real people, not researchers, so you can see what it’s testing and who it’s for.
- How do I know if I qualify for a aki trial?
- Each study lists its eligibility criteria — rules about age, diagnosis, and prior treatments. On every Clin2 trial page we explain these in words written for real people and offer a short, optional pre-screen for a fit read. The study team makes the final decision.
- Does it cost anything to join a aki trial?
- Using Clin2 is always free. Many trials cover the cost of the study treatment and related visits; some reimburse travel. The study team explains exactly what’s covered before you decide.
