Who can take part

  • Your baby was born weighing less than 1,500 grams (about 3.3 pounds)
  • The study team must be able to confirm your baby’s birth weight
  • Your baby should not have a major heart problem
  • Your baby should not have major birth defects affecting the stomach/intestinal tract
  • Your baby should not have major birth defects affecting the lungs or kidneys
