Test blood markers to understand progression to heart failure

Acute Decompensated Heart FailureHeart Failure

Part of Heart & circulation clinical trials.

This study looks at blood “markers” (substances in the blood) to help explain how some people move from early heart strain to full heart failure. You may be enrolled if you have stable or worsening heart failure symptoms, or you may qualify as a healthy control for comparison.

Who can take part

  • You must be over 18 years old
  • You either have stable heart failure or worsening (decompensated) heart failure symptoms, or be a healthy control
  • If you have symptoms, you may have trouble breathing, fluid in the lungs, leg swelling, high neck vein pressure, or belly fluid
  • Imaging (like an ultrasound/echo) must show heart failure signs such as a large heart, weak pumping, or abnormal filling pressures
  • You must be able to give informed consent

Heart failure recovery markers study

This study looks for markers in the blood that can predict whether the heart's pumping function improves in people with chronic heart failure. It may help doctors understand which treatments work best for each person.

NCT06690684Enrolling by invitation
Finding new blood markers for heart disease

This study is looking for people who have had a heart attack or have heart failure to discover new markers in your blood that could help doctors better understand and treat heart disease. By collecting samples and health data, researchers hope to find clues that improve care for future patients.

Personalized Heart Failure Treatment Adjustment Study

This study helps doctors adjust heart failure medications based on your individual response and biomarkers (blood markers). If your heart isn't pumping well enough and you're not yet on the full recommended dose of heart failure medications, this trial may help optimize your treatment plan.

NCT03772275Recruiting
Tests new blood markers in chronic heart failure patients

This study looks at whether certain new blood tests (biomarkers) can help doctors learn more about chronic heart failure. You might be asked for blood samples and health information, and the results could improve how heart failure is understood in the future.

NCT06586008Recruiting
Heart failure ultrasound and recovery study

This trial uses a special ultrasound scoring system to see how well people with a certain type of heart failure (weak heart pumping) are doing. It looks at whether this score can predict how their recovery goes.

Heart failure and inflammation study for hospitalized patients

This study looks at blood markers and body composition in people hospitalized for heart failure with preserved or mildly reduced heart function. It aims to understand inflammation and fluid status better.
