Who can take part
- Be between 18 and 50 years old
- HIV testing status must match the study: HIV-negative people must test negative on specific lab tests; HIV-positive people must test positive on specific lab tests
- Be able to understand the study and give informed consent (you can have the form read to you)
- You must not have GI problems or symptoms that would usually require a scope/endo for diagnosis, or certain autoimmune conditions that could affect gut tissue
- For HIV-positive participants: no serious HIV-related infections in the last 30 days, and you must be off specific short-term treatments for at least 14 days
- You cannot have certain lab and health issues (like low platelets or clotting problems, pregnancy, untreated syphilis, neurologic red flags for spinal fluid testing, or a bleeding disorder)
