This study measures how your hip moves (the “mechanics”) using clinical exams and imaging. It may help researchers understand hip movement problems in femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) before major joint damage develops.

Who can take part
- You have hip pain and have been diagnosed with femoroacetabular impingement (FAI)
- Your X-ray shows a specific pattern of hip bone shape (cam, pincer, or mixed FAI)
- If you’re a control volunteer: you’re age 18–35 and X-rays do not show hip deformity/FAI or dysplasia
- You must not have advanced arthritis seen on X-ray (Tonnis grade III or IV)
- You must not have had surgery to fix FAI or other hip problems (but minor exploratory procedures may be allowed)
- You must be able to do movement tests and stay still for imaging, and you must meet body size limits (BMI and hip size)
