Who can take part
- You are an adult (not a child).
- You are being evaluated in the emergency department for suspected sepsis.
- You have blood and/or urine tests (and/or other body fluid samples) taken for culture.
- You have at least 3 of these 4 signs: fast heartbeat, fever or low body temperature, fast breathing, and abnormal white blood cell count.
- If your infection source is something else (like lung mucus, a wound, spinal fluid, or nose/mouth secretions), you must have fewer than 3 of those signs.
