This trial studies how a botulism antitoxin (called BAT, heptavalent) moves through the body in children. It may help doctors better choose doses and timing for pediatric treatment by learning from blood samples after the first dose.

Who can take part

  • A parent or legal guardian can agree to the study, and your child can agree if needed.
  • The child is between birth and under 12 years old.
  • The child is receiving the BAT botulism antitoxin, and only the first dose is used for the study.
  • A blood sample (or a standard-care sample) can be taken within 32 hours after the infusion is finished.
  • The 5 mL blood sample must be considered safe for the child based on size and health.
