Testing a light-scanning eye exam to diagnose corneal thinning

Who can take part

  • You must be able to follow instructions for the eye imaging during the study
  • You must be willing to be scanned with the Brillouin microscopy eye test (no “half sessions” for one eye only)
  • You are in one of these groups: normal corneas, keratoconus (mild–advanced), or certain recent past/future cornea refractive surgeries (LASIK/PRK)
  • If you had LASIK, your eye scans must match normal post-surgery findings—or you must have post-LASIK ectasia for the relevant group
  • If you have keratoconus or post-LASIK ectasia, the study uses your cornea measurements (topography and thickness/pachymetry) to confirm
  • You cannot have certain eye anatomy issues or related restrictions (like “narrow angles” that block view), and you must not be limited to one eye
