Who can take part

  • You are an adult age 20 to 65 and can give consent
  • You are scheduled for surgery with general anesthesia that uses direct laryngoscopy to place a breathing tube
  • Your pre-check shows you have a normal airway and no expected difficulty getting the tube in
  • You do not have no teeth (are not edentulous)
  • You do not have dental issues like a missing tooth, overlapping teeth, or recent cosmetic dental work
  • You have not had a previously difficult airway during tube placement
