Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 65 years old
  • You are scheduled for planned (not emergency) surgery that requires a breathing tube
  • You are generally healthy or have mild health issues (ASA level 1 or 2)
  • You do not smoke, chew tobacco, or have substance use problems
  • You do not have dental issues like missing teeth, crowded teeth, or dentures
  • You do not have jaw problems like a receding or protruding chin
