PET-CT scan study for head and neck cancer before radiotherapy

Who can take part

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Have squamous cell carcinoma in the head and neck (but not nasopharynx cancer)
  • Have visible (measurable) tumor on imaging and plan to get radiotherapy alone to try to cure it
  • Be able to lie flat (on your back) for the scan time
  • For the second scan, your first PET-CT must show FDG-avid tumor (active uptake) with SUV at least 2.5
