Who can take part
- You have a BMI over 35 (obesity group) or under 30 (non-obesity group)
- You are planning bariatric surgery if you are in the obesity group
- You are planning abdominal surgery if you are in the non-obesity group
- You have not been taking vitamin or dietary supplements regularly in the last 3 months
- If you are in the non-obesity group, you are not significantly undernourished or rapidly losing weight
- If you are in the non-obesity group, you do not currently have an infection or strong inflammation and you are considered a cancer patient or not excluded as “non-cancerous”
