Who can take part
- Be between 18 and 80 years old
- Be male or post-menopausal female
- Have planned visceral surgery where tissue can be taken
- Either: be a control with no diabetes and BMI 30 or less, or be obese (BMI over 30), with or without type 2 diabetes
- For people with diabetes: you must have type 2 diabetes and not use insulin or GLP-1 medicine
