Who can take part
- You are starting hemodialysis for the first time (not a repeat or long-term dialysis patient).
- You are not using sedatives or sleep medicines or other “psych” medicines that affect the brain.
- You do not have a current brain or thinking condition that could change your mental state (for example, severe confusion from liver disease).
- You have not had a stroke causing brain effects.
- You do not have severe unresponsiveness (stupor) or dementia.
- You have not had a kidney transplant.
