Sensory training to improve arm control after stroke

This study tests a hands-on sensory training approach that uses signals from one sense to help your brain control your arm and hand after stroke. It may help improve grip and arm steadiness, especially for people who still have mild-to-moderate arm weakness more than 6 months after a stroke.

Who can take part

  • You had one stroke affecting the middle part of the brain called the middle cerebral artery, and it was over 6 months ago
  • You can understand the study and follow two-step instructions during testing
  • Your arm/hand weakness is mild to moderate (not very severe) based on a standard movement scoring test
  • In your more affected arm, you have an elbow sense problem, but you still have touch sensation in your affected arm or thigh
  • You can actively lift your wrist back at least 5 degrees
