Who can take part
- Be 18 years or older
- Have a fracture near the shoulder (proximal humerus) that needs surgery with the A.L.P.S plate
- The break must involve the metaphysis (the bone area just below the joint)
- No active bone infection, sepsis, or bone disease from infection (like osteomyelitis)
- Usually need to be able to consent and reliably return for follow-up visits
- Must not have certain medical issues like type 1 diabetes, cancer history, abnormal calcium, chronic steroid use, or some other bone problems
