Who can take part

  • You have sickle cell disease and it is recorded in the St. Jude system
  • You are currently coming to St. Jude for an acute sickle cell pain crisis
  • Your age is 6 to 25 years
  • You can speak and understand English for the study
  • You must be able and willing (you or your guardian) to sign the consent form
  • Your pain must be more than mild (pain score 4 or higher), and opioid treatment should be appropriate
