Eye pressure and vision test study in healthy and glaucoma-suspect people

This study measures how eye pressure and standard eye-function tests perform in people with normal eyes, higher eye pressure, or early signs of glaucoma. It may help researchers understand who is at risk and how best to monitor eye health before or during glaucoma.

Who can take part

  • You must be either a healthy person, a “glaucoma suspect,” or someone with glaucoma by the study’s specific eye exam and test results.
  • No first-degree family history of glaucoma if you are enrolling as a healthy volunteer.
  • You must not have ever had eye pressure above 22 (mmHg) if you are enrolling as a healthy volunteer.
  • You must have normal-looking optic nerve and nerve-fiber appearance on a dilated eye exam (or, if enrolling as glaucoma suspect/glaucoma, you must meet their abnormality rules).
  • If you have higher eye pressure or abnormal nerve/field findings, you must meet the study’s exact thresholds and have repeat visual field testing that is in or out of the normal range as required.
  • You must not have eye conditions that block the view (like significant cloudy media), eye movement/fixation problems, diabetes with eye damage, or past eye trauma/surgery (except allowed laser or uncomplicated cataract surgery over 6 months ago).
