- Your child is scheduled for elective direct laryngoscopy with surgery
- A parent or legal guardian can give written consent for the study
- No known allergy to dexmedetomidine at the start of anesthesia
- No known allergy to remifentanil at the start of anesthesia
- Your child’s oxygen level at the start of anesthesia (SaO2) must be at least 85%
